How do you create the first day of school sign out of the chalkboard?

The introduction is the most common activity to hold on the first day of school. Many kinds of introductions way you can hold for the students. It can be using the essay introduction, classroom presentation, text worksheet, drawing, and so on. Each of the styles has beneficial for the students.  If you want to go differently, let the students make a first-day school sign using the chalkboard. Here’s how you can arrange it.

Provide the materials such as the blackboard (or using black art paper will also do), colorful chalk, ruler, and stencil. For the stencil, you can provide the ones that might become your student’s embellishment while making the sign. Before moving to the making process, explain the rules to do the task first. You can also take them in turns with each student in the classroom by letting them write their name on the classroom board too.

If you decide the things they should write, you can explain them here. Let the students create the sign based on their creation. It can consist of the name, grade, school name, year of school, their future job, teacher name, and many more.

Guide them to list what they going to write. Then, continue to scratch their chalk on the board. After done filling the writing list, let them draw some embellishments using the stencils. Stick the stencil on the board and transfer the stenciled picture. Don't forget to present an example first to follow.

If they have already finished the sign, let them present it in front of the class. This activity can pull off the students’ creativity in making their own sign or banner. It can also boost their drawing skills while also reviewing their identity and transferring it to the board.
