What do black cats mean on Halloween?

Black cats are a classic Halloween symbol because black cats have long served as objects of superstition. In Medieval times, many countries have given black cats many bad labels. Black cats were considered bringers of bad luck and curses to any human they came near and were associated with witchcraft, unlucky, evil, and even death. There is no specific reason for when black cats started to given the bad labels and why it is given many bad labels.

Why are black cats a Halloween symbol?

Black cats have traditionally been used as a sign of bad omens in most western cultures, specifically accused of being witches' acquaintances, or actually shape-shifting witches themselves. The black cat is considered a sign of bad luck by most of Europe, particularly if you walk across the path in front of a person who is thought to be an omen of misfortune and death.

Why are black cats associated with Halloween?

No one knows exactly how black cats and Halloween have become so closely linked. It may because from medieval times, witches were said to take the form of a black cat and many of the old beliefs also associated the black cat with witchcraft and evil.

All of this are lead us to another question, ‘why are black cats associated with witchcraft and evil?’. It might seem funny and ridiculous but the answer is it might be because of its fur’s color or have something to do with how quiet but agile these beautiful animals can be, and often hunting in the darker hours. Because black and the night have long been symbols of evil due to the fears of our ancestors.

Do people kill black cats on Halloween?

Actually, the answer is yes. There is no specific reason why people kill black cats, but it might be because the black cat has been the symbol of unlucky for a long time. And it causing the abuse and torture of black cats and another mutilation of these cats around Halloween abound is too high. This probably doesn’t occur with any great frequency, but nevertheless, it is probably smart to keep black pets close to home. Perhaps a more real concern is the adoption and then the neglect of black cats intended for use as Halloween props and costume accessories because people are assuming black cats and witch are associated.
