It is important to teach kids to read and understand the information of calendars. To do this, we often download preschool calendars and use that as a device for the learning process. Usually, the preschool calendars contain vibrant colors and have the animation characters that decorate the preschool calendars.
Once we download preschool calendars, it is good to know how to introduce calendars to a preschooler.
Don't worry, here are some steps to follow:
1. Involve the daily schedule, by using transition and describe the activities in a day using pictures on the preschool calendars.
2. Review the preschool calendars, before starting the day by singing songs and light yet fun dance.
3. Invite kids to recite or read loudly the schedule so that they will remember the activities inside the preschool calendars better.
When it comes to introducing kids with preschool calendars, it is really important not to equalize the total of the days each month in a year. They need to know that each month has different amounts of days, including 28 days to 31 days. However, it is not easy to teach them so. It is because our mind also associates that days in a month are 30 days. Plus, we ourselves sometimes forget which month has 30 days or 31 days. However, don't worry. We have tips and tricks to teach kids with a total of days in a month for a year. It is even helpful for us too. We can use our knuckle to indicate the days in a certain month. If we pick the higher side of the knuckle, it indicates that the month consists of 31 days. If we want to know the months that have 30 days, we can point to the lower side of the knuckle. Keep in mind, to teach this correctly, make sure we start the pointing from the left side of the higher knuckle on the little finger. If it reaches the higher side of the index fingers, it means we have reached July. To count the next months, we can repeat from the higher side of the knuckle on the little finger again.
On the top of the calendar, there is a year that describes a certain year on that day and month. Usually, a whole grid or a sheet of a calendar describes a single month in a year. Each grid or sheet changes so does the month. The first row of the grids in the calendar shows the seven days in a month, from Monday to Sunday or Sunday to Monday. Then, below the days of the calendars, there are cells that consist of numbers from 1 to 28, 29, 30, or 31 (it depends on what month that is). When we want to know today's date, we can simply go to the current day. If it is in the first week of the month, we can pick from the date of 1 to 7, then pick the precise day from Monday to Sunday. Follow the other step to know the other date of the second to the fourth week.
