What happened at the first Thanksgiving?

In a brief explanation, the first Thanksgiving started with the meeting of Pilgrims and Indians, then ended with a large dinner. However, the real story actually more complex. The commemoration was begun in 1621 with the three days of the feast. Even though the commemoration started with a large dinner, for the Pilgrims was a day to pray in silence while also fasting in often. That’s very different from nowadays tradition.

The source said that the three-day feast take place at the Plymouth Plantation in 1621. This feast gathered 53 Pilgrims from England and hundreds of men from the local Wampanoag Nation. The former Governor of Plymouth Colony named Edward Winslow leaves some note footage and said that many Indians come to the feast with the greatest king Massasoit among them. They were enjoying the feast and even brought killed deer for awards. From these, people assumed that deer was there as the feisty meals of this Fall holiday.

Other foods that are predicted to be in the first Thanksgiving celebration are corn, eel, fish, mussels, turkey, and more. Long before the feast was held, the Pilgrims' arrived at Cape Code, and corn was first seen by the Pilgrims before even met the Wampanoag people. Once they met, the Wampanoag people even taught them about farming and the way they gathered seafood such as mussels, clams, lobsters, and more. Tisquantum who was the Pilgrims' interpreter even came home with eels he trod out with feet and catch with hands. The wild turkey, quails, pigeons, and partridges are also there. The harvest brought lots of Indian corn. Aside from those ingredients, other great fruits also wrote in there. Walnuts, chestnuts, small nuts, gooseberries, strawberries, and plums were loaded there.

You might want to keep these menu ideas and serve them for some hearty dinner on the day. With a good meal, comes a good time they said.
